About e-Racing Motorsports, LLC.
Located just 30 miles North of world-famous Laguna Seca Raceway in Northern California, e-Racing Motorsports was founded in 1997 by two brothers (Mark and Mike Kibort) who were avid club racing fanatics. In the beginning (back in 1996), Mark was driving a '84 Porsche 928S, and Mike was driving a track prepared 1980 Fiat Spyder 2000 with Bosch fuel injection. Both had over 25 years of experience between them as electro-mechanical sales engineers for electric motors and industrial automation control equipment. In addition to racing, Mark was heavily into remote controlled electric powered airplanes and was continually developing and testing electric jet engines.
Mike, after spending a couple of thousand dollars on modifications for his Fiat like a header, free-flow exhaust, ported and polished head with big valves and racing cams, suspension upgrades, etc.) he was still looking for any possibility of improving power on his grossly under-powered Fiat. Sure enough, when going to the dyno, Mike realized that none of the purchases he had made for his engine performance had created any gain in HP. When discussing the results with Mark, it became clear that no matter what he did to the engine and exhaust to make air and exhaust flow more freely, the 2.0L double over-head cam engine would always be limited by the restriction resulting from the small size of the air-flow meter intake hole (a small 1" x 1.5" opening). Mike then asked Mark about the possibility of using the electric jet engine he had developed in order to overcome this restriction, and possibly develop pressure for increased performance.
From there the wheels of invention turned, and within a year, Mark, working with several former NASA engineers, developed the first practical prototype of the e-RAM Electric Supercharger. By this time, Mike had sold the Fiat and acquired an '84 Porsche 911 Cabriolet. Mark and Mike decided to test the e-RAM at the only place that could confirm any performance gains... The Dyno.
As expected, they found that the e-RAM helped the 911 gain 10hp over its previous baseline of 191hp at the rear wheels. Testing on the 928S also yielded positive results. Durability was the next concern, and Mark and Mike proceeded to put the e-RAM through its paces at the track. After countless hours of track time, and quite a few more positive dyno runs with anyone who would offer up their cars for testing, they were both convinced that they had a winning idea, and e-RACING was born. The patent application had been filed through the US Patent office throughout the development process, and was ultimately granted to e-Racing Motorsports in December of 2001 (US Patent #6,328,024 B1).
Since its beginnings in 1997, e-Racing Motorsports has continued to improve on the e-RAM to make it more powerful, as well as more durable. By using the feedback and dyno testing from its customers, e-Racing Motorsports has developed and proved the e-RAM line of products as a cost-effective addition of horsepower for driving enthusiasts of every age and discipline. e-Racing Motorsports is dedicated to the continuous improvement and evolution of the e-RAM and Super e-RAM products, and to the satisfaction of our customers.
Stay tuned to e-Racing Motorsports, as we have a lot of things coming "down the pipe" in '07!
